Drought Monitoring

The following links show the drought status of Rhode Island, the Northeast region, and the entire country. The NWS Climate Prediction Center gives an 8-14 day outlook as well.  The RI DEM page has information about the progression of drought, as well as other helpful links.  The RI State Climate Office page contains links to state weather records, average frost dates,  detailed hardiness zone map for RI and CT, and a link to CoCoRaHS because “We don’t live at the airport“.  Do you ever wonder how our tiny state can have torrential rain in one area, but you got none?  See what precipitation towns in RI (or other states) got on a given day.  The Community Collaborative Rain, Hail and Snow Network provides statistics from a grassroots volunteer network of backyard weather observers of all ages and backgrounds working together to measure and map precipitation (rain, hail and snow) in their local communities.
